Pre-construction

The pre-construction phase of building a house involves a plethora of steps that often get forgotten or glossed over but will set the stage for having a successful build.

The first step will be asking yourself if you’ve got the stamina and resources to pull off a self build? There are multiple pathways to building that require various degrees of money, time, and skills.

If you have lots of money and no time or skills, there is the relatively easy route of hiring a general contractor (GC) to do everything for you and all you do is make some key decisions like approving house plans and finishes. As you would expect, this pathway will also cost the most money. If money isn’t what you’re worried about then by all means follow this path.

If you’re on a stricter budget as many of us our, you can educate yourself about the house building process and be your own GC. Being your own general contractor will likely safe you
